Electric Current and Voltage Division Rule

Electric Current and Voltage Division Rule

Voltage Division Rule:
In parallel circuit voltage is same across of parallelly connected impedances. But in the case of series circuit voltage is not same across each impedances due to some drop of voltage. So Voltage Division Rule is used to find the voltage across each series connected impedances.

Equivalent Impedance,

Current passing through the circuit,
Now, Voltage across Impedance Z1 is:
The voltage across Impedance Z2 is:

The voltage across Impedance Z 3is:
Similarly, I general form:
This is called Voltage division rule.Voltage across any Impedance

Current Division Rule:
In a series circuit, current is same across each impedances. But in the case of parallel circuit current is not same across each impedances. So Current Division Rule is used to find the current across each parallelly connected impedances.

Euqivalent Impedance,

The Current through Z1 is

Similarly, The current through Z2 is
This is called Current division rule. The current across any impedance
